There’s actually a canine sport that’s been developed for Resistance Training called DogRoading! DogRoading uses specially designed harnesses to help create safe resistance on the dog distributing the load safely on them.  DogRoading resistance training is usually about tethering the dog to something that’s too heavy for them to pull and is powered by other means then the dog. So the dog is moving with the resistance and pushing into it with the specially designed DogRoading harness.  I will run all ages of dogs even puppies (if they don’t push into the resistance) by moving at a quicker pace but again not to fast so there’s a fine line there that determines if it’s safe for any particular puppy! But adult dogs and even seniors can do DogRoading Resistance Training as they can use the resistance by pushing into their DogRoading Harness or simply just trot, run or walk with the vehicle that is propelling them! So as always, depending on conditions, I usually like to do about 5 to 10 miles of resistance training per adventure.
